Have you read the 16 Skin Types book by Dr Baumann? She's a dermatologist. There are quizzes in there for you to work out what type you are then she 'prescribes' products for your specific type (ranging from £ to £££). I am a dry / sensitive / wrinkled / pigmented skin type for example (even though I am not that wrinkled - but prevention is better than cure!!).
Incidentally, I would recommend getting Liz Earle from QVC - the face cream and cleanse & polish brought me out in huge red painful lumps. I bought mine from LE direct and they wouldn't accept it back. That said, their CS is usually great, and I love their Smoothing Line Serum, Eye cream, hand cream, body wash, body scrub etc.0
