Green Flag Compensation

Hi, a Green Flag subcontractor came out to my vehicle, claimed he was unable to access the spare tyre and left 4 people at 2300 to sleep in the vehicle. The next morning g another subcontract, believing the previous mechanic, towed the car to a kwikfit 10 miles away before discovering it was a standard under carriage spare wheel, which he then lowered and changed the tyre himself, surprised at the previous mechanic. The delay to the journey was 15 hours.
After querying this situation Green Flag offered an apology and £30 compensation.
Considering the circumstances, and the fact that my policy covers me for a tow all the way home (which in this case would have meant Manchester to Cornwall) or a hotel stay... I am asking for them to reconsider their offer.
I would be interested to know peoples' thoughts

(y policy covers me for a tow all the way home (which in this case would have meant Manchester to Cornwall) or a hotel stay...)When did you ask for this to happen .2

Or what happened when you phoned Green Flag back up at the time to query this? How did the second mechanic know where to come if he thought you had been towed?

As above, did you ask to be towed home or to be put up in a hotel, rather than accepting having four of you sleep in the car overnight?
No harm in asking them to reconsider their offer, but it would be helpful to know what you are after. If their first offer is £30 and your expectation is £300, for example, their next offer is unlikely to meet your expectations.0 -
Did you not know how to access the spare wheel?0

Irrespective, unable to access the spare wheel is not a reason to leave you stranded, especially given how many cars today are not supplied with a spare...
Why didn't you ask for one of these options (tow or hotel) at the time of the incident?
