Quick Query over switch
Just carried out latest switch from Eon to Avro for 12 month fixed current EON tariff Fix 1 Year Exclusive September 2020 v2 Energy club has advised me to switch and no penalty as im in 49 days of end.
Just go onto Simple and Prime12M Avro .
Avro have informed me that i will be getting debited 25th September .
Will Eon stop their debit prior to Avro or is their a chance i will get double debited ?
Im in credit with Eon £36 as of today.
Just bit confused with it all.
Cheers Paul

These days smaller suppliers ask for the first DD in advance of supply as they pay their suppliers in advance for the energy that they supply to you. You could end up paying two DD payments in one month. This is normal with switching.1

Cheers for quick response , wont be such a surprise if this happens now.
At this time its impossible to make any contact via chat or phone to any supplier ,attempted avro and Eon with no luck.
Also been attempting to get hold of British Gas after many missed boiler service appointments due to them cancelling and now my homecare contract is out.

Avro take their first payment just 12 days after you apply.paulstevo said:Just carried out latest switch from Eon to Avro for 12 month fixed current EON tariff Fix 1 Year Exclusive September 2020 v2 Energy club has advised me to switch and no penalty as im in 49 days of end.

That is within your 14 day cooling off period, so they may well take a payment even if you cancel.
It has also been known that Avro might cancel your switch request, despite them having taken your payment.
Good luck trying to get any refund out of Avro. Your best bet in those circumstances is to hope your bank will allow a claim under the DD guarantee.
(In theory, the bank could decline, but in reality most will entertain such a claim. It's unlikley Avro would attempt to challenge such a claim in either event)
Even if the switch goes ahead, as you will be paying Avro whilst you are still being supplied by your existing supplier, it is highly likely that you will suffer a DD collection from both suppliers this month (but you will only end up paying for the energy once). If your Eon account is finalised as in debt, they will probably attempt to collect that by DD next month too.
