Hi there,
Recently tried to sign up with Peoples Energy and I was told that they are no longer accepting new customers. I’ve seen on this forum that direct debits were going up by 25% regardless of credit on customers accounts. Does anyone know what this might mean for the company?
TIA

Very interesting - when you go to their website and try to get a quote by entering your postcode, you get "page not found".

It could mean that the company is just taking a financially-prudent approach in these difficult times. All suppliers need to know that they can purchase enough additional energy to support any new customers that they take onboard. This energy needs to be purchased at a cost that doesn’t leave the supplier out of pocket.
Sadly, too many small suppliers have thrown caution to the wind in the past. A massive increase in new customers does necessarily result in extra profit.2 -
Thank you, so it doesn’t necessarily mean that the company is in any kind of trouble?[Deleted User] said:It could mean that the company is just taking a financially-prudent approach in these difficult times. Given that we live in very strange times with wholesale prices on the up and up, it cannot be easy for supplier at the moment. I don’t think it helps to speculate about failure as speculation can result in customers voting with their feet. FWiW, I got a very strange quote page when I looked which suggested to me possible IT issues.ACunningham21 said:
