Best account/bank for my savings right now?

Hi all,

Looking for advice, have 2 bank accounts (RBS and a Halifax) both standard current accounts. One has around 3k in it, the other 21k.
Not moved banks ever and im looking to switch to a new one that is good for interest rates etc.

Any recommendations? I'm looking at the Lloyds £100 switch offer but im not sure if that would be the best account for the amount of money.

Thanks,

  • Lloyds is good for credit interest up to 5k, then I'd use one of the new banks like Atom or Tandem for the remainder. Some "good" rates available for 1 year fix if you don't need the flexibility.

Lloyds, BOS, Halifax, Virgin will get you over £20k of savings with an average rate just over 1%

£20k is enough to get close to average returns with Premium Bonds so 0.9% they are basically easy access savings. Personally can’t be bothered chasing round with different current accounts, pick one that has some benefits that you’ll use or big joining bonus and go with that and Premium Bonds.
