Utility comparison

After doing various recommended utility comparisons I'm still confused! They all recommend different suppliers.
I've moved in recently, I'm disabled so can apply for warm home discount and I don't want a start meter preferably.
It would also be easier if my payments went straight out through fuel direct.
S9 how do I choose a suppliers?!
My house has been with brittish gas fir quite some time.

You will first need to register with the existing supplier if you have not already done so, before attempting to switch supplier.
Then the best way is to consult a comparison site (where have I heard that before?)
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/cheap-gas-and-electricity/
e.g. this site's own cheap energy club will allow you to filter results to those that offer WHD.
But there is no point getting WHD if that tariff is going to cost you more than £140 per year compared to a tariff that does not offer WHD, so ensure you check the whole of market. (i.e unfiltered)
If you are getting different results from different comparison sites then you are probably not looking at the whole of market, not using the same input data, or the comparison site is not up to date with the latest and greatest tariff data.
Also you need to understand under what basis you would be entitled to WHD; core group of broader group. Some suppliers only support the scheme partially, so check with the supplier. If you are eligible because of the broader group criteria, you'll need to check with the supplier if you meet their criteria as that can vary by supplier.
More information about the WHD can be found in this recent MSE article:
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2021/08/energy-firms-accepting-applications-for-the-warm-home-discount-t/
Also see this from gov.uk
https://www.gov.uk/the-warm-home-discount-scheme
In regards fuel direct, you'll have to let the Jobcentre know so they pay the correct supplier.
If you are in financial difficulties, you may have issues changing supplier as most will carry out a credit check before providing you credit.

As you are new to the property you need to guess your consumption - about 3,000 kWh for Electric and 12,000 for Gas. (don't use "I used to pay £x" or there are two adults living here. ) Make sure you read bills at lease monthly and look at the bottom line to see how much you owe or are in credit.
I hope when you moved in you contacted the existing supplier and gave them meter reads.
Do you need to go on the Priority Services Register ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
