Cancelled order

Hi.
So I bought some Nintendo switch's from the Argos website and there was a glitch where it discounted the item down to £9.99.
I no of a lot of people who collected theres the same day without a fuss but mine wasn't ready till the next day.
I went to collect when I got the order confirmation and I got told I had cancelled my orders.
I have looked since and all my orders have been cancelled but it says. 'sorry you have cancelled your order' when I haven't.
I have had the refund but I was hoping that there was a way for them to honour the price I paid for the item

  • Doubt it. They have probably cancelled and it’s probably within their terms and conditions to say if a price mistake has been made they are allowed to rectify this. The people that managed to collect straight away were lucky.

Not if its a mistake .
Contract formed depends upon T&C but usually upon dispatch/ collection .

If it’s obviously a mistake and the likelihood is that customers should have known that, then the company is within its rights to not honour the order. You can’t force them to give you an expensive item at a ridiculously low price when it was clearly an error.
Which you knew, otherwise why would you have tried to buy multiple items?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I'm aware that it must have been a mistake on the website but it states on the terms and conditions that 'they have a right to cancel all orders prior to dispatch and in store'
My items were in store already and I was there picking them up?
Surely they can't honour it for so many but not others? And yes they were very lucky they managed to collect there's the same day

The point is that if it's an obvious error, it isn't an enforceable contract anyway, no matter what the terms say. What they did with other customers isn't relevant.

    Yes they can.
Unless someone wants to get into a debate with them about the finer points of contract law. Those companies that have honoured glitches tend to be more a customer service decision. I don’t think that’s high on Argos list of priorities.

So there's no point trying to win this thing. I was hoping there might be some loopholes or ways to get the items.

You’ve had your answer above - you didn’t get lucky this time, just let it go. :)

Problem is also greed, when these things happen the odd one can slip though. but when you try to buy ten it get their attention.

"Some" can be any amount, maybe next time try to be the one that buys one and hope it slips through.
