Stuck in a chain - HELP….

We put an offer in on a property in April and are still waiting for the people at the top of the chain to find? We are desperate to move as I now work in the area and am having to go an 1.5 commute every day, costing loads in petrol and rent.
What can I do?
What can I do?

A lot of people are having problems finding a property to move to.., its just the way it is. You could find a new property and new chain but could very easily find someone in the new chain with similar problems. You could ask your EA to confirm the people at the top of the chain are genuinely looking for a property and use that information to help you decide what to do.0

Clearly those sellers don't have the same timeline as you so i would change your mindset a bit here.
Is the sale actually going through and they're moving into rented to continue the sale, or haven't they started their process yet ?
If the latter i'd suggest starting to look elsewhere because with an average transaction period you're looking at 3 months so ...... be led by that.0 -
Welcome to the world of chains. Nothing you can do except be patient.0

The plain truth is that all you have done is put an offer in. The chain isn’t complete, and it may never complete. I hope you are still actively looking at other properties? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1

You have 2 choices:
- Look for another house
- Wait
There is no third choice0 -
Where are you in the chain?(How many between you and the top of the chain)I would make a noise asking what is going on etc to let people know you are frustrated by the lack of movement. Even asking the agent you are buying through what other properties they have available. This may well trigger some movement sadly even the collapse of the chain but at least everyone can move on.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Would it be possible to move into an AirBNB or a Holiday Let, if there is one, near to where you want to be? Your rent probably wouldn't change, you would have double moving costs, but your commute/costs would lessen. Swings and roundabouts there. Hopefully, only for a couple of months.0

I have viewed a few houses lately (4-5 bed family houses) - there are loads of people booking to see them, agents have been doing back to back viewings and going to BFO - perhaps the people at the top of the chain are just not getting anywhere in the process0

How 'special' is the house you've offered on? If there are similar on the market maybe try and find one with no chain and go for that. If it's a one off and worth waiting for then you just have to sit tight. It would probably be quite easy for your sellers to replace you so I doubt rattling the cage bars will make much difference. The people at the top are unlikely to move for the sake of it, they need to find the right place and as mentioned there is lots of competition.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20

We had the same issue waiting for our vendors.
We pulled out after several months and have found a new build and should complete in 3-4 weeks.1
