Hope all the scan shenanigans go well - my niece in law, who's quite a bit shorter than average, has a baby who's weighing more than average, and her due date has been brought forward almost 3 weeks as a result!  Never heard of that before, I must say, but it's concentrated minds on baby preparations

Everybody seems to buy newborn to 3 months for a new baby.  My DS outgrew them by the time he was 3 weeks old.  He wasn't fat but long so babygrows were keeping his legs bent.  He spent a couple of days with the feet cut off until we got new.  What a waste though.

It is, really, isn't it ... my sister just delivered her stash of sale-bought baby clothing to her son, and it goes up to 18 months  she believes in planning ahead

That is what I would do too.

I never buy 0-3 months for new babies for this reason - plus the sleep deprived parents are unlikely to get it washed and ready to wear before the baby outgrow it!

The 12 week scan showed a normal, healthy, *wriggly* baby and we were both very relieved. The day was perhaps overshawdowed a little by a horrible work situation for me and being stuck in the ******* rain for 80 minutes on the way back - must have a wee quiet minute with Mrs E at the weekend to discuss in a more relaxed frame of mind.

Still no word from the architect, what a scunner! I'm going to call him on Monday if I haven't heard anything, seems very unprofessional considering he'd committed to a date range and he's well past it. I would contact him today, but having Mrs E's local besties and their kids round for a Halloween party and sleepover this evening, so I have enough on my plate.

I've also managed to get my flu jab this morning (free through work) and am grinding my way through most of the month end chores. I'm sitting waiting for the insurance people to call me back to finalise my income protection insurance. Once the direct debit is set up, that will be me all grownded up and with 90%+ of my wages covered should I develop any kind of injury or long term illness I wouldn't say I feel invincible, but it's the closest to it I'll get

Finance wise, it's month end, we've stuck to the budget, there's money left in pots and our asets are ££££ higher than our liabilities. I'll call that a win

On the topic of baby clothes, I hear you all. DD wasn't a huge baby by any stretch of the imagination, but she grew quickly. We went straight into the first size above 0-3 months (3-6 months?) and while a few things were a little long in the frame for her, they weren't after a couple of weeks! I'm still hoping for a girl, not just because Mrs E stashed almost every nice baby dress DD ever had and a lot of basics in the loft.

Great news on the scan!

I hear you on the rain though! It hadn't stopped thundering down here for days but it slowed and we managed to get out later this afternoon. 

Good luck with the architect. We are finding it hard to get house related professionals and also the building materials for projects that we did in the summer were overdue by many months

Lovely news - I urge you to check the small print of the income protection plan to double check the inflator by which your premium will increase. We had to cancel ours after about 8 years

Indexation for inflation is applied @Suffolk_lass but premiums fixed for life other than that. They also mentioned age banded policies, but those were much more expensive over the life of the policy
