Why won’t some pages load on my smart TV?

Options
We’ve got the following TV:

SamsungUE55MU6400 HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart TV

I use 2 different spread betting websites (LCG and IG Index) but neither will load correctly on the ‘internet’ app, any ideas please?

The page displays, and when I log in it just stays loading, and a padlock appears in the address bar

Most smart TV browsers are probably as up to date as Netscape browser.

It's probably doesn't have the required plugin or is able to download it

Ahhh ok, I think. Sorry, I’m a huge technophobe, does that mean I won’t be able to do so on this tv?

Have you checked to see if the software can be updated? If these sites don't work on the latest software version for the TV, then they are not going to work and you will need another way to access them.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Workaround ... connect your phone* to the TV via Chromecast or similar so you can use your phone but see everything on the big screen?

    * connecting your laptop to the TV via HDMI would offer the same function/service. :)

TVs generally don't have the plug ins or processor capacity to offer a reasonably workable web browser.

I can't add anything to the answers above, they are spot on.

However you do have some alternatives....

    1. Many Samsung models support screen mirroring so you can cast your browser from an Android phone.

    2. From 2019 Samsung TV's can remote access a PC/Laptop so I can just fire that up and have full access to your PC on the big screen. Having a wireless keyboard / trackpad will help enormously with the experience.

Would be surprised if you find any TV that can do it in all honesty.  They're not designed for it.  A TV is designed primarily for watching TV ( ) and any extra functionality is through the apps.  I wouldn't be surprised if its main purpose is to provide a web hook for the likes of Prime and Netflix to get online with behind the scenes, and the actual browser functionality is limited.  You can probably get onto Google but that's about it.
  • Of course smart TVs aren't that smart after 3 years or so, the App developers want to deliver the best experience to their end user, TV manufacturers want to ship the latest tech on screen technology, they won't want to spend their R&D cash on supporting BBC iPlayer , Netflix etc for a 3year old pc. My satellite shipped with iplayer and ITV access , but after BBC/ITV upgraded their stuff bye bye my old Foxsat except I can still stream recorded content anywhere , and can access the box via Telnet/FTP/Web Browser hence I bought a spare 5 years ago and have upgraded both of their HDDs(no need for SSD)

A bit of an exaggeration. I can stream Full HD material directly from the Browser on my five year old LG TV.
