Same with auto renewing car insurance policies - spent literally hours recently trying to contact RAC because renewal quote was far from competitive. You can do almost everything online bar cancel !!ffc58 said:What is wrong with these companies.

You should always object to auto renewal when first signing up. If you didn't, then there's always the Royal Mail, remembering to get a free Certificate of Posting.0

According to their website, you should be able to cancel a renewal via your online account.ffc58 said:What is wrong with these companies.

Doesn't apply to mid-term cancellations as that may incur cancellation costs, especially if you have had work done under the policy (such as an initial inspection/service?)

As you are not happy, I suggest you follow their complaint procedure.
(and perhaps leave a comment on that page if they are not now supporting what they say)

Afaik, you have to agree to auto renewal when taking out this particular cover.Gerry1 said:You should always object to auto renewal when first signing up. If you didn't, then there's always the Royal Mail, remembering to get a free Certificate of Posting.
You cannot cancel the auto renewal; you can only cancel the policy (effective from date of notification, unless within 14 day cooling off period)
Cancellation once you have a renewal offer should be possible online (effective from date of renewal)

Was that the same utter joke you agreed to when you originally took out (or last renewed if later) the cover?ffc58 said:...

The Ts & Cs state that "If you pay by Direct Debit, or are an Energy Extra customer, we’ll keep renewing your agreement automatically, until you ask us to stop", so there's no reason why you shouldn't tell them to stop right at the beginning.greenguppie said:

Agreed. No reason at all.Gerry1 said:

But presumably you have quoted that from the 'renewals' section on page 27?
I was trying to assist the OP who experienced difficulty trying to contact by phone.
Page 33 covers cancelling the agreement in general, and essentially says what I posted in the link I provided earlier.
