Hello,

I hope you can help with some advice.

I am enquiring on raising funds to buy land in Zakinthos Greece to build an animal shelter.

Can anyone recommend the best platform to use?
Looking for one where donations would need to be in euros and the final amount to be paid into a Greek account?

With donations made in various currencies and converted into euros.

Also is there a time limit on the length a fundraiser lasts?

I am a UK resident enquiring on behalf of a small shelter that needs to expand.

Also would like to know if a UK registered charity can purchase land in Greece?

I look forward to receiving some advice.

Kind Regards

Aileen Lamberton

This isn't straightforward, but start with what the charity's governing document says. If it says you can buy land abroad, you can at this end, but what does Greek law say about foreign organisations holding land? If charity not yet set up, look at charity commission website.

As for donations in Euros, why not raise in sterling and convert?

Timescale: again tricky. If you're raising restricted funds which can't be used for anything other than buying land for an animal shelter in Greece, you can't do anything else with that money. What do you do if the shelter changes its mind - you should offer to return the donations.

    Thank you Savvy Sue.

I am now looking for a platform to fundraise where donations from all currencies will be paid into a Greek euro PayPal account or Greek bank account this is to fundraise for building materials and labour.

    i look forward to advice.

    Regards
    Aileen
