Weird growing season - and 2m tall Cosmos daisies...

Options
Is it just my impression or has this year been one of the weirdest for growing. All kinds of strange things happening. Luck with gherkins which I've never managed before. Lots of cherry tomatoes (great!) but with a mushy texture(boo!)...

... and now, after putting out nothing but foliage for months, my Cosmos daisies have reached 2m tall and are finally flowering. Truly bizarre...

    Yes it's been a challenge.
The month long (in my area) deluge of rain caused my Raspberry canes to reach 6ft! And the tomatoes went wild before I could get to them.
Then it was so dry that I couldn't get canes in to support them.
Looking at the blue sky obscured by vapour trails for the first time in 18mts I'm thinking alls not going to get better.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

2 of my hellebores are in full flower!

  • You are not alone, these cosmos are in a college garden here in the city of the dreaming spires.

There is a round pond with a small fountain in the centre of these two circular flower beds which were seeded with a bee friendly seed mix earlier this year and for the last month or so the pond has been completely invisible.

Here is how is usually looks.

I took the second photo on 11th July this year and the first one today, hard to believe there's only two months between the two isn't it, I think the head gardener is wondering whether the seed merchant sent triffids by mistake!
