  • Good plan to have a few less hectic days to try to get over being a bit under the weather - I think a lot of folk have been hit harder by colds than usual this year so far because of the reduced immunity to the previously "common" bugs that were about.

  • Nothing new to report on the debt neutral fund- hopefully I can add more to it towards the end of the month 😉

I celebrate winter solstice as opposed to christmas so glad to report that I'm totally sorted for that now - all food/alcohol and gifts have been bought and we are having a solstice weekend this weekend (son in law is working on 22nd so won't be able to drink on 21st) then a more subdued celebration on the day itself 😊

My 'new year' starts on 22nd and true to the title of this thread, it's time to clear the remnants of my old life!

I have big plans- I'm quitting drinking and smoking; I'm building self-care into my days with yoga, meditation, excercise, healthy food, body treatments and weight loss and I'm going to have my most frugal year possible by ridgedly sticking to budgets, using up my storecupboard  and growing as much of my own produce as possible 😊

2021 has been a horrific year for me so I'm glad to see the back of it to be honest- I'm determined to make 2022 a year of personal growth and change!

It's been a tough year for you too @savingholmes!! 😔 hopefully though 2022 will be positive for all of us! 😊

The weekend went very well, lots of fun and it was lovely to see my dd & sil relax and enjoy themselves ❤ sent them home yesterday with plenty of leftovers (we've got loads too! 😂) so that will keep them going for a few meals 😉

We're all ready for tomorrow's celebrations - it will be a much quieter evening but that's perfect for me- no doubt there will be enough leftovers to see us through till the end of the week 😊

I've spent a lot of today planning for my new start on Wednesday- we're going to go for a walk at the local wildlife reserve then come home, light the fire, put on some music and relax. Dh and I are back at work on Thursday so I've written a 'to do' list for that - I want to ensure that all aspects of my life are organised! 😉

I should be able to add a bit more to the debt neutral fund on Thursday- it won't be much but I'm pleased with what I've achieved this year and looking forward to building on it in 2022!

The planned walk and seeing family sounds lovely. Looking forward to 2022. Have to stay positive. As my counselor said if nothing else 2022 will be very different for you

  • Happy Solstice!! ❄🎄🍾

Balances paid off the credit cards today - wasn't very much but I'd bought a few bits for dd - so will be starting my new year with just the debt neutral fund to build 😉 checked some figures last night and should have around £150 to add to the fund on Thursday 🙌

My new grocery challenge starts on Thursday- I'm really hopeful that it will be a really minimal spend month but will still allocate the usual. I'm going to set the annual budget tomorrow- we're starting the year with around the right amount in the bill account but I know that I could have done a great deal better this year. The savings took a bit of a beating this year too but all for a good cause so I have no regrets and I'm viewing the current balance as a bonus to be built upon! 😉😂

I'm content with where I am- all things considered it's been a reasonable year financially, we've achieved a lot and have started to address the historical stuff too so that's a positive step forward 😊

I'm really looking forward to the next 2 days, celebrating today and embarking on my new journey tomorrow- it's an exciting time!! 🙌🍾
