Can't find Favourites icon

Edit: Darnit. I've just seen that the Favourites icon is really a little bell. A bell?

Just thought I'd use this board to ask this question.

I've finally read how to mark a board as a favourite and to bookmark a thread.

I can see the bookmark icon within each thread but I can't see the heart shaped 'favourite' icon anywhere.

It is supposed to be "in the top of every board on the right-hand side" but I can't see it.

Any help with this?

Favourites is the bookmarks (like the browser).  The Bell is notification.

Hmmm. Now I really am confused. I went to three of my most used boards and used the little bell symbol on each. I now have them in my favourites.

So the bell symbol is doing what I expected clicking on a little heart symbol to do.

I can't see a little heart symbol anywhere.

Yes, there are two little Bell icons.

The white Bell in the green bar at the top is notifications, the black dark green Bell in the white pale blue space below the profile icon is a drop down for favourite / follow options.

I can't see any heart icons either. but I guess the first "favourite" option puts it on your favourites list as JohnB47 discovered.

Somewhat confusing until you've played with it.

MSE should either replace the green bell with a red heart - (easy to do) or change the "how to" page for new users.

It's hopelessly confusing isn't it?  Thought I understood it, but not so sure now, hence I've deleted my earlier comment that Favourites = Bookmarks.

I've always thought that the term Favourites (well, Favorites) was just the Microsoft way of saying Bookmarks, i.e. that they were just two names for the same thing rather like Trash/Rubbish/Garbage.

However, MSE considers them to be different things.

It's supposed to be explained here, but I wonder whether it relates to the old forum before the less-than-wonderful re-vamp?

Gerry1 - yes, your link shows the explanation I read first. I think you are right - it's probably how it used to work before the redesign.
