Thanks @Greymug - that sounds the best way - just hoping I can find someone now. If not I do have some other helpful suggestions from here so feel a bit less stressed about it all. Famous last words.Greymug said:I got the flooring done first, then the painting, then I started bringing in the furniture.
I like to assemble and move furniture around once; moving it around the rooms to make space for flooring to be done is a waste of time and effort which I avoid at all costs.0 -
So, a quick update in case anyone is interested. A local recommended independent carpet and flooring co. is coming round the week of completion with the guy hopefully doing the plumbing (to check in case access to pipes needed are under the floor) and they have pencilled in the week after for fitting, which will probably be for carpet at this stage. It seems to be the fastest and easiest thing to put down.
The movers with our furniture in storage were flexible and said they could delay putting the beds etc back together until they came back with our furniture from rented, but that would just be chaos I think and nowhere really to keep them so hopefully now I can just get them in after that and start transitioning over from rented gradually. The list and order of things is still in progress but hopefully that’s the top one out of the way. Thanks again for the helpful suggestions and great advice.0 -
For those reading this thread and asking about handyperson services there is also this scheme run by Age UK which doesn't operate everywhere but might be useful for some Handyperson services | Home safety and security | Age UK1
