O/S Daily Friday 10 September 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, cloudy start and showers forecast, cooler though.
DH gone to work stupid stupid early. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy. DS1 still in his pit, he has some hols from work.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, chips and beans. Tonight will be something quick and easy.
I have the usual "to do" list. so lots to do.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Quick one from me, running a bit late this morning. Thanks for the start nmlc.
It's rained all night, a bit better this morning but I got very wet on my walk. Too hot to have a hood up so I took a brolly, just have one wet sleeve on my jacket!
Hugs to all, hope everyone's well. Take care. XX11 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's grey and damp here, we haven't had any thunderstorms, but there were showers last night, it's been quite close as well.TA, I laughed at your description of your Dgd, the St Trinian's escapee!Taff. can you do.decoupage, you mentioned it yesterday - I've never tried it. I started teaching myself calligraphy a few months ago because I thought it would look nice on cards, but haven't done any for a while. Though I haven't made any cards for a while either, other things have got in the way. I'll get back into it.DP1, it must have been nice growing up in Amble, the Northumberland coast is beautiful. (you'd think I was on commission from the Northumberland Tourist Board!!)Hope Bella enjoys her hols, I think everyone needs a change after the last 18 months.Yesterday was an ok day, DH continued his marathon hedge cutting, he's lowering it a few inches, and he found a tiny birds' nest in the hedge, surprising we thought, since that bit of the hedge borders quite a busy pavement. He'll finish today he thinks, then the garden could do with a good tidy, it's been a bit neglected over past weeks.I'm visiting a friend tonight, and just doing the usual household jobs today. I thought I'd make a carrot, courgette and orange cake, I found the recipe in one of my books, it looks lovely.Hope everyone has a good day, thoughts to anyone who is sad or poorly today.Take care folks.12

Good morning everyone

I had a horrible day yesterday as I think I had a kidney stone or a kidney infection. I was in so much pain but eventually after hours of agony the pain stopped and I got some sleep. Today I feel absolutely fine, just a bit tired and sore. Poor Steve was very worried so he will be much happier when he wakes up to see me well again.
Lee is supposed to be going to college today for an induction day but as he didn't go to bed until 5am it's looking unlikely he will get there. I will go and check on him in a little while though as I have just heard his alarm go off.
I didn't get anything done yesterday so I want to get some cooking sorted. I still have soup in the fridge and the blooming packet of mince. Steve didn't cook anything for dinner yesterday so I will go and prepare something in a minute while I have a bit of energy.
I will probably be back later when I have properly woken up. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It looks a bit damp outside but we never got the forecasted thunderstorms yesterday. It was warm and muggy all day.
I really enjoyed my grocery shopping expedition with DD yesterday. (Sad or what!!) I came home laden with supplies I didn't know I needed! Home B first and all sorts jumped in my basket. Then Asda and 2 full bags came out with me! Having grocery deliveries is ok but over the months I seem to have ended up ordering the same stuff every week and my menus have ended up pretty boring. I'm not a vegetarian but I do eat lots of veggie food and I was amazed at the selection Asda stock. On DD's recommendation (she is a veggie) I bought lots of new things to try. Next it was Sainsbobs but I was a bit more restrained by then and only came out with 1 bag!. My store cupboard is well stocked now and both freezers are absolutely rammed. And I only had a little top up of fruit and veg on my list when I left home!! I don't think I will need a grocery delivery now for a good few weeks!
Today I have the excitement of the Friday Tidy and as I never did my thorough Thursday clean of the bathroom and kitchen yesterday I have the whole shebang to do today. I just need to summon up a bit of energy now.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones, those convalescing and anyone just fed up. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc.Watery bright skies outside today and still on the warm side. Yesterday the weather was weird, a bit like a dogs nose - wet and warm. Lots of light showers but I kept my front and back doors open for most of the day.The only interesting five minutes of the day was when my neighbour up the hill came to fit my new kitchen heat alarm. He's been constructing a huge poly tunnel to season wood so this was a much easier task. 😀I've decided to get roller blinds for my front facing bathroom, bedroom and living room. There's not any curtains so I need them for using in the dark nights and mornings ahead, something which has long been on the agenda pre-Glasgow years. I'll get motorised ones to make life even easier. Had two installed in Glasgow, DM loved hers as it gave a little bit of independence and control when she was bed bound. I phoned the company yesterday so that's in the pipeline. The chicken breasts I bought the other day are now stuffed with garlicky soft cheese and wrapped in Parma ham ready for the oven. That's lunch prepped for four days, I don't mind eating the same things occasionally. As for today, I'll go into town for a huge bag of sunflower hearts and one of peanuts for the garden birds. The local country store has just opened big new shiny premises which needs looking round. 😀
My thoughts are with all our missing and poorlies. Happy Friday to everyone.12 -
Morning walked the dog it’s a lovely morning calm and bright hubby is staying in hospital over the weekend so we will see what Monday brings he says he’s feeling alright in himself it’s just a precaution I’ve got work soon and then I’m going to finish stripping my bedroom this weekend ready for my son to plaster it I’m another that loves the Northumberland coast but I did watch programme the other night about fishing that i have no interest in what so ever but I was told to watch it for the scenery and they were in north Uist in the outer Hebrides it was absolutely breathtaking12

Good morning everyone, cool, wet and very dull here today.
Very mixed day yesterday, decided in view of forecast to take the awning down before we visited the NT property, this made us very late and we got soaked, dried the coats in the sites laundry, shoes were sodden, but had spares in the car.
Just about to make scramblers and smoked salmon to set us up for the journey home, expect it to be busy today on the roads.
TA I grinned about your shopping foray, I have had 2 visits to W8rose and go home loaded up with goodies, we are 30 miles from one at home and some of their products are my treats.
nmlc thank you for the new thread, hugs and spoons to all that need some. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -
Morning all; very dull looking outside here today and rain is forecast.
Yesterday's trip to the dentist wasn't too bad at all, although she was running late and there were 3 separate patients hanging around in the small car park outside. My suggestion of a seat being put out there was met with raised eyebrows!
I did feel rather flaked out afterwards though so lounged around on the sofa for a while and let DH cook something for a late lunch. Then it was off down the M1 for the last Morris practice before leaving for Swanage FF later this morning. I'll probably be out of action for a few days now so see you all again Tuesday.12 -
Another nearly sleepless night ,so feel wrung out this morning.
will be a slow day today11 -
Morning hugs if you need one. Shake Suffolksue, it was 5am before my eyelids closed, so now I feel like death warmed up!! my head feels as if its full of cotton wool, so a quiet day for me.
Again we did not get the promised rain, it was very muggy in the afternoon. We do have grey skies this morning.I did manage to get 2 lots of geranium cuttings and potted up a fuchsia. It will have to wait till tomorrow now. Apart from shoving the GTec over the carpet and kitchen floor I am doing nothing.
There is a small in the bathroom, have taken the non slip may out and put it on the line. Will wash it when I do another load of laundry.
Fish and chips tonight, we had pears cooked in white wine last night for dessert with a teaspoon of cream on, enough to have the same again tonight.8
