DCBL Final Notice

Hi,

I've tried searching for the right answers and like many I've got lost among the thousands of posts. I'm not an experienced forum user so please accept my apologies.

Long story short, a friend received a parking ticket for exceeding 2 hours free parking at a service station in England in 2017. This friend has now moved back home to Northern Ireland and has recently been receiving DCBL letters (after 4 years!). The latest letter is 'Final Notice of Debt Recovery'.

My question is, what should they do? They have ignored every letter to date as per the advice but is getting a little twitchy now. Can DCBL do anything to people in Northern Ireland?

Thanks!

Dcb ltd can't do anything in any nation

The parking company could try a court claim in northern Ireland , but probably won't , more chance of seeing a flying pig !!

The friend should keep ignoring debt collector letters , but come back onto this thread if anything significant happens

    Debt collector letters are insignificant

He needs to confirm to them that his NI address is his permanent domicile and tell DCBL and the PPC as well,  to ERASE the old address they hold for him.  He’s entitled to that under the GDPR.

Email both DCB and the DATA PROTECTION OFFICER at the parking firm.

The newbies thread 2ndpost tells you how to find the DPO email of any PPC so tell him not to go looking randomly on their website or telling us he doesn’t have that email.

Absolutely NO phone calls and no telling them who was driving!

They have already received DCBL letters at their previous address in NI. They have since moved to a new property in NI. Should they write to say they are no longer at the address the letter was posted to?

    Keep them informed.

Yes. ALWAYS get an old address erased. Don’t assume that a parking firm will use the right address. because they won’t.
