What would I need to connect a pc to a BT phone faceplate ?

Will it require an adsl router or a switch ?

Im on BT Full Fibre 100 so ideally I want to have a decent and not be limited.

Hope I've explained myself well.

You don't connect to the BT faceplate you connect to the router, likely the faceplate is now disconnected.  Where is the PC located in relation to the router ?  Does the PC have a wireless card ?  You can connect with an ethernet cable for better speed than wireless.
  • BT Full Fibre is not ADSL and as far as I've ever seen is never available through the traditional BT phone faceplate.

They should supply you with the full kit already set up including the ONT (Modem) and router such as a BT Smart Hub which you can connect your PC to as you would with any other internet service.

In more detail, you have an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) also called a modem mounted where the fibre optic cable comes into your house. This will have its own power supply as well. It converts the optical signal into ethernet but you don't connect your PC directly to this device.

An ethernet cable is run from the ONT to the WAN port on your router (a BT Smart Hub in your case) which will provide the Wifi and ethernet connectivity for devices in your home.

Well a faceplate is there and as far as I know its connected.

Ok so I enter the room via internal door and on the right is the Home hub under the stairs with a door so its out of sight, on the right is where I have positioned the PC and between the 2 is where people will walk from kicthen to the sofa/go outside to patio.

PC doesnt have wireless but it is an option, I was hoping it would be a last resort though, thought I could do it wired.

Yes I know ADSl isnt Full fibre, ADSL was the only thing I could use to describe what I meant, wrong word was used.

Yes kit is in place, its currently in use BUT the problem is I cant move said kit, its under the stairs. Yes I possibly have a ONT which is then connected to BT Home Hub.

So based on what I have provided is it not possible to do what I'm wanting and wireless is the only option.
I've currently got an etherent cable plugged into the PC but its not a long term solution, was hoping I could do it another way.

There is one option I drill a hole close to the home hub and have an ethernet cable going through but it would mean moving the PC to a location I hadnt considered.

You can run an ethernet cable from the PC to the router or you could use homeplugs which use the house wiring to run the signal - router plugs into one plug with an ethernet cable and PC plugs into another. Is it doable to run a cable from the PC to the router ? - cheapest method for best results.  I assume you are also using internet TV services - how are you connecting those ?

Yes, you have a couple of options:

You can locate the BT Home Hub wherever you want in your house, just connect to the ONT with a suitable length of ethernet cable. In fact anywhere is better than under the stairs when it comes to getting a good wifi signal around the house.

Alternatively, if Wifi doesn't matter to you, then run an ethernet cable from your PC to the BT Home hub under the stairs.

If I have understood your original question correctly, then the answer is no to using your existing household telephone wiring for ethernet.
  • Why not just get a usb wifi adapter for your PC ?

Like I say I've got an ethernet cable in use but it isn't ideal, trip hazards and all that.
Right so it looks like its using wireless then.
I could always use the ethernet cable for any big downloads I need to do.

Ive already got homeplugs in use for BT TV, thinking about it I could have bought a pair of 3, I didn't envisage this problem.

I don't use internet TV services, everything I need is either on Xbox, on fire stick or Youview box.

You need to connect your pc to your router but don't like the wire across the floor? Try a wireless dongle. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2487249.m570.l1311&_nkw=wifi+dongle+for+pc&_sacat=0
