Credit on account
Once your partner has the money in her hands, she should have nothing to fear. The energy provider has emphatically told her that's what she's owed and, even if they later claim they have made a mistake, it's their problem, not hers. The regulator would rule in her favour, particularly if she spent the money on receipt.
