Hmm. I normally wouldn't have a read a thread with the given title. But every so often I pop onto Head for Points and read their daily chat. Apparently yesterday's daily chat was impressively long discussing this one issue. Even today's chat used many acronyms and code words about this topic, that I didn't fully understand everything.I didn't realise Curve was treated as a debit card even though it was linked to a credit card.Apparently some people used the curve card to build up IHG points by doing m a n u f a c t u r e d s p e n d. Then others were telling them to keep quiet so that Creation (or whoever) didn't find out this was happening. Apparently one person put through 700k into buying PB's.Apparently NS&I were a factor in stopping this method of payment. But be aware, I am gossiping. You should do your own research.1

wouldn't be surprised to find others following if similar loopholes or manufactured spending can be done

There will likely be some side deals with some retailers but the underlying business model doesn't appear to make sense.Grumpy_chap said:
So, if I understand that correctly:Deleted User said:Curve will pay the standard credit interchange fee to creation - probably at loss as they only receive the (lower) debit card interchange fee in most instances from the actual transaction.- The customer does not pay a fee (in most cases)
- The customer benefits from "incentives"
- Every transaction makes a loss
- The sponsored links can't possibly be enough to make up for both the incentives plus the loss per transaction (given most transactions are not linked to sponsored links)
There must be more to the process than is immediately obvious.
