Switching energy companies regularly

So i've just been caught up with my energy provider (PFP) closing and my supply transferring to someone else.

I'm shocked at the price of electricity since my fix in November last year... my day rate has literally doubled with new quotes. My current 2 bed flat costs me £31 a month. With price changes, estimations on the comparison websites are now £40-45 a month based on my annual consumption.

After looking around, there's a hell of a lot of energy companies now paying refer-a-friend bonuses. There's a few websites to find refer a friend codes pretty easily.

My thinking at the moment:

1) Wait to see who OFCOM appoint as my new supplier of energy.
2) Sign up to scottish power - refer a friend scheme and earn £100 (currently highest on the market). This should last 2.5 months..
3) After two-three months, switch to next company offering highest...
4) After two-three months switch again etc..

Anyone else tried a similar method?
