agree with the others, lavender is lovely and perhaps a low growing rosemary?
I planted an osteospermum tresco purple - got it from morrison's I think, lovely flowers and the foliage looked good for ages (still does) - also planted a scabious which is pretty and flowered for a long time

The rosemary is a good idea, I've got one in another part of the garden I could move. I've had scabious before but it didn't appear to like dry conditions.

Rosemary roots fairly easily from cuttings, no need to move your original one

  • LOL I rather cluelessly put some Nepeta in my garden and the local cats when mad,  fluff everywhere.

Ours don't really bother much with it, perhaps because it's always been there for them, but I've not noticed any other cats taking an interest either.

I have some in a hanging basket. Wonder why the neighbour's cat was suddenly rolling round my garden, as she usually scarpers. I'd taken the basket down to give it a good water.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Night scented stock, ten week stocks, nicotiana, alyssum, lemon thyme, lemon balm, sage, sarcococca, those bushy sweet peas that were bred for hanging baskets, small echinops, violets, campanulas, erigeron, michaelmas daisies and you could even put some hollyhocks in between the apples or some irises against the wall where the tubers wouldn't get too wet and cold.
