Waiting for HSBC confirmation to release fund in time then we can exchange?

I’m buying a house on my own so this time I’m so anxious. On 6th Sep, 3 parties in the chain agreed to exchange and complete on 15th Sep.
however when solicitor asked me if I want to exchange before my lender HSBC send confirmation for fund to release in time for completion, I don’t know what to answer. Then he decided for me saying better wait the lender to confirm before we exchange. He doesn’t want to take the risk.
so on 7th, I rang HSBC to find out when they can give confirmation, they said received everything from my solicitor for completion on 15th, and solicitor gave min 5days notice for completion. They should send confirmation within 48 hours. But today 4pm I rang HSBC again, they still not send confirmation to my solicitor.
Is anyone recently used HSBC? How long take them to confirm, and do they reliable to release fund on time within 5day notice.
From the date my solicitor inform them to completion date 7th- 15th.

You're still within 48 hours they quoted, up to 5 days is standard for most lenders (I've heard HSBC can be slower). Don't exchange until they confirm. If there's any reason (not saying that there is likely to be) they can't release the funds you will still be legally obliged to complete or face serious financial penalties.

You can exchange up until the to and on day of completion so waiting for confirmation of funds won't delay completion.

Let the solicitor deal with HSBC. There's no need for you to become involved. Is the entire chain ready to exchange?
  • yes the whole chain is ready and agreed to exchange on 6th. Now all delayed.
Everyone also agreed to complete on 15th.
I have sent email to my solicitor to chase the confirmation

Thanks for your advice. I have asked my solicitor to chase the bank, and they confirmed on the phone for release fund but not in writing.

I maybe just paranoid, when I ask if is in writing, the main solicitor says it’s not in bank’s practice in writing to confirm. The telephone message is saying the certificate is filed and fund will be released. Then he ask me if I want to wait until he received fund.

I assume this is good enough right, I can go ahead exchange today right?

thanks for everyone advice in advance.
