What to look for in an accountant?

Hi All! So I work for a small independent business and we're having some trouble with accountants. We've had two so far and they just don't seem to be doing anything! Think we were quite naive when we started and we're just not sure what to look for as good signs or red flags. We're looking into Kirkwood Wilson Accountants at the minute, but wanted some advice about the best things to consider when finding value for money in an accountant?
