Website Pre-order

I purchased a pre-order from Jadlam a few months back and payment was taken at the time. Since then the cost from their supplier has increased and they have sent me an invoice asking for additional funds. Is this allowed? Surely the contract between the seller and I was complete at the time of purchase and they have no rights to ask for additional funds? Any suggestions please.

Read the T&Cs of their website, if you can find them - if its the same website I am looking at the footer lists all the policies etc you'd expect but no actual links to them.

Many retailers T&Cs say the contract isnt formed until the goods are dispatched in which case they are entitled to vary the price.

    Edit:
Having found the terms they state:
Pre Orders - Whilst we will always try to present items on Pre Order for the best price possible, if suppliers increase Cost & RRPs we may proportionally increase our selling price. In these circumstances we will contact you beforehand to ask if you would like to keep your order open.

you should be able to cancel your pre-order and receive a refund
  • Thanks for your help @Sandtree and @Caz3121 🙂
  • Seems like quite poor practice - the business I started would only take pre-orders when we had a final cost, and on the occasion it was unexpectedly increased we just took the hit (losing money sometimes).
