French door replacement

We currently have a french door from bedroom to our balcony.
There is fair amount of road noise and light which comes into the bedroom.  I have tried blinds, thick curtains, inspire of all this, there is significant light into the room.  The noise is definitely coming through the door.

I was hoping to replace the door with something which will be soundproof/ reduce sound coming in along with some way of blocking the light out completely.

Anyone had similar experience or any pointers

I was astounded by how little noise comes through my new Rehau double glazing. I asked the company for triple or acoustic glass and they laughed me off and said that my double glazing was so old there would be no comparison. They were right. I really can't hear much at all through the new stuff! For the light, internal shutters or recess fit blackout blinds will give you pitch blackness.

  • you can have acoustic glass . acoustic frames . triple glazing . make sure its fitted correctly . think about any brick vents you have . loft and wall insulation too . black out roller blinds or built in blinds (made inside the glass . they all add up in price but if it is affecting your sleep I am sure you would seriously think about it . add up the options against prices . The D.b levels are mainly fabricated onto a correctly fitted insulated walls . There is more involved than that
