Integrated Dishwasher

Options
Hi, can anyone give advice. I ordered an Integrated Dishwasher on a local electrical appliance website and ticked the boxes for fitting of new appliance and removal of old appliance - no option to pay online but pay on day of delivery via credit / debit card. The fitter asked to be paid by cheque to his name and the company delivered the dishwasher for him to fit and I paid them by debit card. When the fitter had finished he had planed the side of the fitted kitchen door on both sides so that the door would shut - it hadn't been a problem before, and also said that I would need to press the top left hand corner of the door when putting it on to stop water coming out?? Have had no issues previously. I wasn't happy with it but asked a neighbour/ tradesman if it was right and he said not and wouldn't accept himself and he felt door was correct size not warped would just have required adjustment. I phoned company who sold me the dishwasher and arranged fitting who after they had spoken to their fitter - told me it wasn't their problem as it was between me and the fitter and the fitter had told them the door had swollen (we had no problem with the fit of the door before). The person I spoke to wasn't very polite and refused to come and look at the issue. I feel that the fitter should have talked to me before he had planed the door (as now it isn't water sealed in planed area and painted covering is lifting visible when closed too) as could have queried this  - will need a new door now due to damage and won't colour match with rest of kitchen so that leaves me with that issue. Can anyone advise 1) Who is responsible fitter or company who organised the fitter 2) What recourse do I have as kitchen doors won't match if I replace door but as door has been planed it doesn't now fit well so will only get worse. 3) I have home insurance should I be looking into that?  4)Do I get an independent report - who from?
