Peoples Energy - Additional Payments

Hi, wondered if anyone has encountered problems making additional payments to Peoples Energy?
Changed to Peoples Energy some months back, and made an additional payment to cover a shortfall in my direct debit one month. Checking my energy statement, the following month the additional payment was not showing, however looking at my credit card statement the payment had been made. Contacted Peoples Energy who stated they had not received the payment and wanted proof the payment had been made to investigate. I emailed a partially redacted copy of my credit card statement, which Peoples Energy say they have not received. I have sent 2 further copies (image file and pdf formats from my work and home email addresses, copying in the alternate to confirm attachments sent). I have made subsequent requests regarding the payment, but now Peoples Energy do not reply. I am considering contacting my credit card company regarding trying to stop the payment, and the energy ombudsman. I am not sure if I want to stay with PeoPles Energy, following their poor service, but don't want to incure the £30 fee to leave early. I am continuing to pay the monthly direct debits. Just wondered where I can go from here, and if anyone else has encountered the same problems? Many thanks

They used to be really good but are now really really bad.  Upping people's DD by 25% saying they are going to be underpaid when anyone remotely numerically able can tell them that is an abject lie.  I think they took on too many customers under the PoLR  & are not able to come close to coping & look like they will soon be looking for their own PoLR.

Thanks for your reply. I've had a smart meter for years, but after being with Peoples energy for quite a while now, they still request meter readings. I expect it's as you say they have got too big, too quickly and customer care has suffered. Shame they don't deliver the service they promised.

Hi All, after a long time of waiting for a reply, Peoples Energy have found my payment and credited to my account. They have also advised to ignore the requests for meter readings as they are receiving the data from my smart meter. Thanks all...

Can you see the automated meter readings (do they update daily) when looking at your account online?

No, logging onto My Account on the Peoples Energy website, it only gives your last submitted reading. Compared to other energy providers, their web page is extreemly basic and does not offer anywhere near the amount of info that other's provide.
