Wood burner and chimney liner

Hi everyone,
had a quote to fit a wood burner. We have one already but the installation is really poor and the chimney sweep has condemned it!
We’ve had a quote by a hetas registered engineer to reinstall, widening the fireplace and installing a lintel and putting a flue in the chimney. £1250 for labour and parts excluding the wood burner.

Does this sound reasonable?
Thanks

Very reasonable subject to a couple of caveats. A 316 stainless steel liner has a limited lifespan - You should aim for 904L.Plastering - Gypsum plaster (the pink stuff like Thistle Multifinish) will crack and flake if subjected to temperatures over 50°C. The fireplace surrounding the stove and the chimney breast above can easily get very, very hot (I regularly see 120°C or more with mine). A heat resistant plaster such as Vitcas or a lime plaster must be used and allowed plenty of time to harden/cure.Her courage will change the world.

Thanks @mobileron I couldn’t get anyone out to quote without waiting weeks so went with the one firm that gave me the quote above. They fitted the burner yesterday and it looks spot on 😄MFW 2021 #76 £5,145
