I have spent an hour or two going through all settings pages/profile etc. I cant find how to stop getting email alerts to threads I no longer wish to follow. Advice appreciated

Thank you for the reply. I am still confused however and hoping someone can explain. I have been through the edit notification preferences before and I don;t understand it.My confusion is mainly on terminology. It gives two options:- Notify me when people comment on my discussions.- Notify me when people comment on my bookmarked discussions. The only difference is the word "bookmarked". Which begs the question, what is a bookmarked discussion? I assume it's that red banner which says "bookmark", however I have already unticked those and I still get notifications so I assumed that my understanding was wrong there. What's the difference between "my" discussions and "my bookmarked" discussions? I don't know how to "own" a discussion other than to "bookmark" it!
Any ideas?thanks again

"My discussions" are threads you have participated in yourself, whereas your "bookmarked discussions" are threads where you've asked for updates, without making a post.Official MSE Forum Team member. Please report all problem posts to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com1

Of course it makes sense now, after it was explained
. I really think this could be added to the notifications page as a help/hover information box or just in brackets under the options to clarify.

Scratch that, I actually reversed my thinking and have gone back to thingamaBob's answer being the correct one, rendering the forum team member wrong, about this forum question
. I could still be wrong of course, but I just spotted another option on notifications preferences page called "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in.". So that's that, which means "My discussions" must be more than threads I have "participated in", and thus I assume those are indeed ones I have created myself. What a headache.
