App options for savings accounts lacking own app or part of Open Banking

Charter Savings, Kent Reliance, Shawbrook, and many others don't have apps of their own. These banks are also not part of Open Banking. If I want to see my balance is my only option to use a third party app that logs in using my actual password? Unlike Open Banking these were regarded as "at your own risk" several years ago and I suppose in the case of theft there would be no protection help. Has anything improved? I don't need the ability to transact or manage the account, only to see the balances. Is there any option which the banks officially support?

Presumably one reason they can offer good interest rates is that they keep costs down.

If you're not bothered about the 'best' interest rates, then you could use the Starling savings pots. The app is pretty decent.1
