It’s not too good to be true. I’ve been trying to tell everyone and anyone that octopus go faster is nearly unbeatable at the moment as the peak rates haven’t been increased at the same rate as other tariffs across the board. Switch to it quick before the tariff changes!!
I signed up last night
make sure you've contacted smart@octopus.energy and asked to go on "octopus go faster". and not just the standard "go" tariff.
The current sweet spot tariff in my opinion is the 5hr off peak at 5.5p/kwh, starting at 8.30pm, allowing you to do your washing/drying/dishwasher etc in the evening at the cheaper rate (and of course charging your car if you have an EV!) rather than moving things to the middle of the night!

    Hello
Could you clarify how long the fix is pls? Not obvious on the Octopus website and I want at least a year if possible

Just need to find a gas supply then I can bin Igloo!

    Thanks
    It's 12 months

If you prefer fixed gas rate tariff lots cheaper than Octopus fixed gas,
According to TCB compare, switching directly no cashback now
2 Year Fix v8 Paperless SSE no exit fees 26.765p per day  All kWh 4.148p  24 month fixed

Octopus flexible variable gas rate will not go above 4.04pkwh ish this side of April 1st due to energy cap

Go and Go Faster are fixed for 12 months. There are no exit fees. Do not delay. Many informed people think that Go and Go Faster are ‘loss making’ tariffs and, with present gas prices as high as they are, they are due an upward revision - particularly, to the Offpeak rate.

If you prefer fixed gas rate tariff, last week SSE came out top around 4.14pkwh fixed 2 years with no exit fees + £22 cashback,  I think would need to put existing tariff that supports gas only to get a gas only comparison result e.g So Energy who are themselves are currently very expensive for gas  https://www.topcashback.co.uk/topcashback-compare-energy/
Octopus flexible variable gas rate will not go above 4.04pkwh ish this side of April 1st due to energy cap

    Thanks guys

Weirdly, I cant find the Octopus Gas only tariffs on their website - have they pulled them?

When you pick a interim tariff as part of Go signup will have choice of flexible variable or very expensive fixed rate gas 5.02pkwh + as well as interim E tariff which can be fixed or variable or switch gas elsewhere.
If you already have a smart meter Octopus usually connect to it within 14 days of switch completion. would only be on interim tariff for electricity until then, if you choose Octopus for gas would stay on interim tariff for gas unless you wish to change tariff  to/from flexible to fixed or visa versa.

You do not have to be an EV owner nor do you have to use Octopus for your gas.

Just need to update this statement because this thread has been bumped and will doubtless get some attention...
For those reading it now (November) it is now a requirement to have an EV, you can no longer get this tariff or renew this tariff without one.

I was tempted to update but then realised that this this was just a plug for someone’s referral site. Personally, I would ban all referral fees and cashback in the energy market, and go for a single industry-funded PCW.
