Gasmeter readings

I've just looked at my mother in laws meters for gas and the box on the wall shows ft3 and the number used is given to Ovo. I've just used their calculator to convert to KWH and my figures don't match with theirs. Could someone please check if its me thats at fault with my calculations. Between june/july the meter reading was 18ft3 used and using their conversion tool I made it 195kwh and they made it 554kwh.   Their calculator shows 18 x1 x1.02264 x38.3  divide by 3.6 which I make 195.84
Where have I gone wrong?

Ovo are correct.  You forgot to multiply by 2.83 to convert to m3.
  • Thanks. I wish they had put that conversion figure on their site and then I would have been able to suss it. Oh well.

It is a Licence requirement that the calculation used to convert gas volumes to kWhs is shown on every statement.
  • Thanks, it was there in the definitions but I missed it. :/
