Bank Account with Travel Insurance?

Options
Although I don't think I will be going abroad for the foreseeable future is there any bank I can switch my Nationwide FlexAccount to to get travel insurance as a perk?
I currently have accounts with Halifax, BoS, HSBC and RBS.

Unless there are any that offer this FOC (I think the FlexAccount was the exception rather than the rule), you're looking at subscription-based packaged accounts:

  • The Nationwide FlexPlus account gets good reviews but that has a monthly fee - that way you can stick with your current bank (unless you actually want to move banks as well). Otherwise see @eskbanker's link above. Ultimately you're probably better off shopping around to see if you can buy the insurances you need separately from a bank account as it might work out a bit cheaper (unless it's a joint account in which case the packaged account generally represents a fairly good deal).

    I was paying £69.00? a year for a couple 74 and 75.

The last time I got quotes it was over £600, I don't think travel insurance insurers like 75 years old with diabetes and high blood pressure and a few other conditions who like to go on cruises

Nationwide Flexplus is 70 and can be upgraded for £65/yr up to 75
    Virgin money is 75
    COOP is 79

I don't know how their cover compares with specialist over 70 travel insurances. In terms of cost, I think a fair number of the packaged bank accounts are unbeatable, particularly for those who also need gadget and/or breakdown cover.
  • Any idea what sort of extra costs a Nationwide Flexplus would add for someone like me ( nearly 61 with T1 Diabetes )
