Presumably, they got a red "Something for You" card but there are more holes in this story than a sieve.Thrugelmir said:What are the odds of a fraudster requesting the items be delivered to the OP's local Post Office. OP do you know who committed the offence? If your account was compromised how do you know where they were going to be delivered to?
The chances of someone getting their hands on a compromised Amazon account close enough to make this worthwhile is low, and having it sent to the OP's address would require them to hang around the house waiting for the delivery (which is rarely RM in my experience) so why did this not happen and they get the item from the OP's house? Also, you shouldn't be allowed to pick up a parcel at the Post Office without the red card so did they have that?
And then the OP inexplicably took the item rather than refusing it and sending it back?
I'm more inclined to believe the OP has had their MSE account hijacked by someone using it to troll than the story the OP is pedalling, to be honest.1 -
but the items had already been posted with delivery scheduled the following day at my local post office.
That would appear to imply that Amazon told him where it was being delivered to. You can have Amazon deliveries to a local past office for collection later. I don't know if it applies to all POs but locally, people who are at work all day used it.
However, if the fraudster changed the email address how did the OP know the items had been ordered?

Local collect goes directly to a Post Office. There is no red cardy3sitsm3 said:

Im at a loss why you would not simply have asked the PO to return the items. This would have sorted everything on the Amazon end.0

Because if theres a fraudster attempting to collect them, it's easy to think that the safest place for them is in your own possession. That way you know the fraudster cannot get their hands on them, and you know the items are safe while you sort the matter out.custardy said:Im at a loss why you would not simply have asked the PO to return the items. So how did you know what the items where, and where and when they would be collected from if you couldn't get access into you account?1
