Hub Energy nightmare

I was with Hub Energy who recently went bust. Before I knew they had I had started a switch to Octopus. Hub were taken over by Eonnext. On their website it says if you are switching it’s fine and will go through.
the switch has gone through fine.
However Eonnext during and post switch say they can’t find me on their system even though they emailed me to say they were going to be the supplier.
I had a credit on my Hub account .
I gave readings to Octopus. Shall I just let them get on with it or keep chasing this credit , final bill.
Eonnext are really unhelpful and don’t seem to think they were the supplier that took over Hub. Please help.

  • If a switch was in progress at the time that Hub went into liquidation, then the switch will have gone through. The SoLR’s priority will be the accounts that it has taken over. It will then address the issue of closed accounts where a Final Bill has not been issued once they have received this information from the failed supplier’s appointed Receiver.

If you choose a small supplier with very few customers, then the risk of failure is probably quite high. Ofgem’s priority under SoLR is continuity of supply not the repayment of credit balances. I am afraid that you will have to wait until the various administrative processes have run their course.

Hub Energy only ceased trading the middle of last month, so only about 3 weeks ago.

If I understand your post correctly, your switch had not completed when they ceased to trade, but has completed now, as you were assured it would.

Suppliers would normally have up to 6 weeks from when a switch completes to produce a final bill. As Hub Energy has ceased to trade, it will probably take a whole lot longer.

You don't have any confirmation what credit, if any, Hub owed you unless and until you get their final bill.

Not sure why you think Eon Next don’t seem to think they were the supplier that took over Hub.

Note that Hub Energy was a trading style of Gas and Power Limited, which will be the one showing on Eon Next systems, as that is what they were licenced under.

I agree with the above poster. You must wait a lot longer before starting to have nightmares.

  • Thank you for the reply
my switch has gone through to Octopus which is good.
ok, so it will take a while to get a final bill a d credit owed. Thanks for clarifying that it may take some time.
I shall be patient and update accordingly.
