Return to China

I bought an item from a seller in China which is now faulty and the want me to send it back tracked with me paying the postage which they say they will refund when they get the item.
However I sent something back to China before but it wasn't tracked as the postage wanted was more than what the item was worth and I never got a refund. Paypal did nothing as I never sent it back tracked even though they were supposed to pay the return postage. and I had the proof of postage
Should I even bother returning the item and just take the loss?
The item was £15.and the postage for tracked is over £20

No.
You might be able to convince PayPal, presumably, to refund you without returning it but if you can't chuck it in the bin and move on, it'll never track to the seller so you'll be £35 down rather than £15.
And where possible, avoid buying from China in future.2 -
this happened to me last year, I was hitting a brick wall with ebay just saying return the item (to china) but like you say the postage cost is more than the items worth, so opened a claim with paypal and the seller didn't even respond, I won it and got a refund without having to send it back1

Well I got a refund from PayPal the seller wasn't happy, said I was trying to cheat him, it was him cheating me, selling inferior junk.
Is anything bought from China on eBay not inferior junk?
The last four items I bought from China were not very good quality though were usable.1 -

You just need to be wary of what you are buying.0 -
Yeah, I've had the occasional 99p object arrive not fit for purpose (I think one was a tea ball where the edges didn't meet so the leaves escaped) but most things I buy have been fine - crochet hooks, insulated cups, tea strainers, hair accessories (with careful inspection of the stock photos to see if sharp snaggy bits are likely), beads, phone case, etc. I have avoided electronics though, and clothes.0

You can use the Royal Mail Click and Drop service to send things to China. And to most other countries. It's not too expensive if it's not too large or bulky. I've done this before and have paid for RM to collect it from my home. At the moment they have an offer where it only costs 30p for collection. Normally it's around 70p, which is still worth it for me.
One seller in China sent me the wrong item and asked me to return it, with me paying postage which they would refund when they received the item. It wasn't a lot to return so I did and received a full refund, including postage. If I hadn't, I would definitely have contacted eBay for a proper refund. After all, they DO offer a full money back guarantee for both sellers and buyers.
I don't use the tracking because the parcels I send from home appear to be tracked anyway and they send emails most steps of the way.
RM Postage for tracked to China at its most expensive is less than £20 if you use RM.
BUT, after having bought other items from China that you weren't happy with, I have to ask why you continue to do so?Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
