Hi
I am painting a bed frame with annie sloan chalk paint. Got a bed for my daughter which was unfinished pine. We had to get it because we needed a single bed with 30cm clearance underneath. We couldnt find any in white. So decided to paint it myself.
I am using annie sloan chalk paint. I wanted to just use typical gloss interior door paint. But the drying time would make it very difficult to paint all sides in the 2-3 coats needed. Id would take weeks to hit all the angles. But chalk paint dries enough to handle with bare hands in 10 minutes - so there's no need to pause to dry to flip over to paint a different side.
The trouble is, it's hard for me to fathom how this is going to be durable enough to work as furnuture paint. It scrapes off so easilly. I've done 2 coats of chalk paint and 1x coat of wax. I need to do final coat of wax soon.
Does anyone have experience with it. Would chalk paint be suitable for heavy wear surfances like a chair seat or table?
I need to do a TV unit, the TV has hard plastic base which might scrape any painted base.

Oil based paints generally need 24+ hours to harden.A bit late in the day for you if you've already started to slap the chalk paint on..Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
