Water softener recharging everyday

The previous person living in my place left a Tapworks AD11 water softener. It seems to recharge very loudly everyday and doesn’t stop until I manually press the ‘recharge now’ button. Today for example the noise was loud that I had to get up to press this button to stop it.

I did fill it up with salt the previous day but when I contacted Tapworks they mentioned it shouldn’t recharge everyday.

I had a plumber from Dinarod check out the installation which he said was fine.

Below are there instructions but I imagine I don’t have any other option to fork out for a service? If so, how much would this be?

The default recharge time is 2.00’AM, but it seems to recharge everyday. According to the instructions

The Tapworks softener is automatic and will decide when it wants to regenerate.  The default regeneration time is 2 am.  Generally the softener will regenerate once or twice a wee

Because it has no historical data to base its logic on, your water softener will recharge quite frequently when first used to ensure continuous softened water. Within a few months it will settle into a more regular pattern.

I don’t know how old the water softener is and as a result can’t use the ‘collecting history’ reason as to why it generates everyday.

I think you need to call Tapworks again for more advice about what would cause it regenerate daily. If they can't explain it, I would get rid of it as they are clearly not a good company to buy from if they can't provide technical support.  Get another brand if you want a softener.

I would also see if you can change the  time on it, so that  it thinks that 2am is 2pm. That way it will not regenerate overnight and wake you.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Check the manual (pdf available online) to correctly set the water hardness setting. The unit recharges based on volume of water used and the hardness setting, so it may be recharging more often than is necessary. Although, if it is charging every day, it's possible there is a fault with the way it is measuring the volume used.
