I have a very busy month of birthdays. I also have my daughter's birthday party and should be starting on Xmas so iv gave myself a really strict budget. Decided best way to do it would be to take cash out and use an envelope system. So iv gave myself 100pw which for everything is pretty tight but if I do that then we will be able to do everything planned, just need to try find some bargain presents and stay in budget, which I'm in the mood to do.

Beans and rice, rice and beans! It's like a mantra.

(And you don't see the inside of a restaurant unless you're working there )

It works... You can also do sprints to help hit a target and then recharge before going all out again

Haha I like! Unfortunately feel we've been priced out of eating out for a while now get the occasional McDonalds.
We do have a meal in December though bring a party to a party type but I don't drink anymore so it's all paid at least.

I was sitting feeling rubbish thinking how can I just be paid and already things are so tight with a home for every penny.....then I remembered DH saves £400 every month so we've decided this month that he will save 150 so that we can get the kids Xmas presents sorted if I see any sales. If I don't see sales il leave it until next month but iv never left Xmas so late before I know it's making me stressed. I'm not sure if it is true that things will run out this Xmas or if it's all the media but I want to at least have a few bits for them without raking round shops.

Cash envelopes seem to be going well so far. Needed bin bags and milk and cheese ...normally that would turn into. £15-£20 top up shop but I took a fiver then realised I had a Tesco coupon so came to £3.30. Really hoping I can stick to it and not mess it up.
Also I have alot of birthday this month so I went to the shops with a list and got all the birthday cards for 25p-50p each, normally I run out of the morning of and end up spending about £2.50

Glad the system is going well. I'm going back to online deliveries or send my DD in so I can't be tempted.

That is a good idea @savingholmes
My problem iv gone back to Aldi what I always seem to do when I'm trying to cut money and that's a 5 min drive.
Today I got my youngest daughter new boots, matalan had 30% off so only £11. Although I can go years not buying mich new unfortunately the kids I have no choice with and they are well needed and used where we live. Need to get all the kids wellies and winter jackets. Think DD2 can wear other daughters old jacket hopefully. They have hats and gloves from last year and iv just sorted that all out.

I found the cheap shops weren't working out cheap as I was buying too frequently as well as too much.

Primarni good option for kids clothes and shoes
