Replace brakes?

I recently got my car serviced. Soon after, the front brakes have been making a screeching sound. I took it back to the garage. They inspected it and confirmed its the front brake, but said that there is nothing wrong with it. I specifically asked if the discs and pads need changing and they said no. I don't feel anything wrong with the brakes when applying them. What can be the cause of the sound? Any idea?

Has it rained a lot lately, in between using your car?

Hyundai i10, 2016. And no, it didn't really rain anything out of normal. Has been generally cloudy or sunny.

Is the squeeling coming from one front corner or both?

When they checked the brakes, how much material was left on the front pads?

It may be that the squeeling is an audible low-level sensor strip embedded in the pads, a warning that the pads are getting low. But you'd like to think they'd notice that on checking the brakes.

You could, of course, take a front wheel off and look for yourself.

as above, jack it up, take the wheel off and see if it needs pads n discs.

I would suggest you take it to a different garage, for a second opinion.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Garages don't usually say something doesn't need doing if it does as they how they make money by selling and fitting things.
Might be worth going for a 'free brake check' at say kwik-fit but you'll probably end up with pads, disks, track rod ends and new springs.
What sort of use does the car get? Short journey with light braking? Rust or brake dust build up causing the squeaking? Might wash the latter off when it rains.
    When was it last mot'd?
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

That won't say anything about whether the pads are low or not, since there's just about zero hope of the tester seeing the pads on an i10 with the wheels on.

usually pads have a sensor that make a loud noise to say they on the limit so most likely your pads need doing

so if the noise happens when braking your pads are done
