Breeze blocks /concrete

Please could someone advise,  am having a new kitchen extension.
My architect drawing says external wall to be concrete but builders seem to have started wall with i believe are breeze blocks. If I have a contract in place, shouldn't they be going by the plan.

Real breeze blocks(made from coke breeze) have not been made for a long time, but most people not in the trade seem to call a lot of blocks breeze blocks.
They could  be medium density blocks.

Many people in the UK informally refer to any concrete block as a "breeze block", but as @stuart45 says above this is inaccurate.

Real breeze blocks (back when they were sold) would have been unsuitable for the external leaf of a cavity wall, but concrete blocks of some kind are almost certainly what your architect had in mind.

It would be VERY unusual for a domestic wall to be cast from reinforced concrete, in case that was what you were thinking!
  • Perhaps they are starting with the inner skin?

They should be if using part fill insulation. Some people do anyway, even when using full fill.
Traditionally the face work was put up first on cavity wall construction, but that changed when part fill insulation started being used. Bricklayers brought up in that era seemed to do it that way whatever the job.
However putting up the face work first is better when possible.
