Getting deposit back.

Hi all,
My parents put down I think a 5k deposit on a 50k motor home.
The invoice claimed they would have it by August or September.
They've just been told it will now be November and they asked for their deposit back.
They refused to return it.
Is there anything more they can do?
Thanks in advance!
Matt.

Production of motor vehicles across the board have been hit with chip shortages so a slip of two or three months is currently the norm. Your parents will have signed a contract to purchase the motor home so will have a fight on their hands to get their deposit back.
if they still want a new motor home they will find it impossible to get anything quicker.

What does their contract say re delivery timing? We can't see it from here.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Ok, I'll get a copy from them tomorrow.macman said:What does their contract say re delivery timing? We can't see it from here.0 -
The other issue with motor homes is that each order is for a custom built MH, which makes getting a deposit back harder.0

Yes that is the important bit.macman said:What does their contract say re delivery timing? We can't see it from here.
It will most likely say that the time frame quoted is an estimate and not guaranteed. It would then come down to whether the delay was "reasonable" (our old legal friend).0
