Can I insist on a non contactless card from my bank?

The contactless limit will rise to £100. It's certainly not something that I'm keen on and, in OP's shoes, I would change bank. Both Lloyds and Nationwide were willing to replace their contactless cards with ones that require a PIN when I asked.0

I don't know about whether banks issue non-contactless cards anymore. However, as has been previously mentioned, there are banks which let you disable the contactless feature on the card. Even if you can't disable contactless, all the banks I have accounts with let you temporarily freeze the card within the app if you lose it. Finally, even if after all that someone steals money from you via contactless, I'm sure it can be claimed back. I've never had a bank or credit card company refuse me a refund for money that's been fraudulently taken. The fears people have over card fraud are way out of proportion. What's more problematic are where fraudsters get you to transfer money to another account as this cannot be reversed (and this has nothing to do with the card/contactless).1

I had an issue with my debit card a few days back reported it and the card was promptly renewed. The problem, it’s a contactless card and for security reasons I don’t want to have a contactless card.
I’m just off the phone to my bank, the Bank of Ireland UK Limited, and they inform me that their policy is ‘contactless only,’ and that all other banks are going, or have gone, that way.
So question: it’s my money and can they refuse to issue me with a non-contactless card? I appreciate that they may have this written into their agreements.
To me this is an important issue as it can be a potential threat to my bank security.

Your bank card has no "Wi-Fi facility" and that is nothing to do with contactless. It's ironic how you deem contactless to be a threat to your banks security yet have no understanding at all of how it works!.
What exactly do you think the threat is with contactless?
The bank will refund any money your out of pocket if your careless and lose your bank card and someone else uses it fraudulently for contactless payments, so if they are happy to take the risk of any loss even if your careless then why do you feel having contactless is an issue?
If you simply look after your card and don't lose it then you won't have any issues at all.0 -
The Tesco clubcard is also contactless so probably want to ring Tesco and ask if they can also re-tool for non-contactless clubcards as well, just incase someone skims all your tesco clubcard points.
My OAP stepdad still stuffs his mattress and drawers with cash because of a similar over-indulgence in hysteria. Get an RFID wallet if it bothers you so much.

Bigger risk is the financial one.
Opps I've lost my card & all these transactions are not mine. Refund given. When in reality someone known has acquired it.Life in the slow lane0
