Odd IFA Fund choice

  • I'm the OP.

Thanks for your answers. Maxsteam probably wins my vote for the one I enjoyed most!

Question 1. Money has been taken from the Asian funds and put into Baillie Gifford strategic bond. This leaves Asia 3% of the portfolio less than in the IFA (and it is an IFA firm) 'model'. So it looks like they are de-risking the portfolio due to fears about Asia - as some of you have said or implied.

Question 2 was the one I was more intrigued by. I went on Trustnet and using the comparison tool put in the three funds (together with one I invest in (remember this is not my portfolio) BNY Mellon Oriental and of the four the Schroder Asian Income Maximiser (Accumulation) would have bottom of my list based on their measures.

I am not seeking to take over from the IFA, merely to understand why they might have done what they did and hopefully learn and understand from him, and from those on here who have an interest and expertise in the field. I will ask him and no doubt in the  years to come we will establish how good the fund choice was.

I didn't want this question to be a 'Are you pro or Anti my IFA' one. Though I think I have asked that in the past and may do again in the future! As Maxsteam would probably say I just wanted to have the thoughts of polite people who share my interest in investmet funds.
