Repair snapped concrete post

Someone has driven into my concrete gate post and snapped the top half clean off
 is there a way to bind the 2 pieces back together, to be strong enough to hold a heavy metal gate?
 Thank you for any suggestions

I think, even if it's possible, replacing the post will be easier and cheaper.

Concrete fence posts usually have steel reinforcements buried inside them. Well impressed if someone has managed to snap one completely in half - Must have done a fair bit of damage to the vehicle..

Whilst it may be possible to drill some holes in the post & broken off bit, insert some rebar, and bond with a high strength epoxy cement, it will never be as good as new. Bolting a couple of steel plates either side may work as a temporary repair, but it will be ugly.

If this is an insurance job, get them to dig the old post out and install a new one. There will be a big ball of concrete underground which will be a pig to get out.

What size is this post? And what finish does it have - ie would you see (would it be acceptable) to have a visible repair?

Drilling holes and inserting rebar or threaded bar into both ends, held with resin, would be the neatest solution. Should be very strong too.

Other than that, replace it.

Or, repair it crudely using whateves, even external straps, and then clad both in timber to change their appearance.

I suppose if each piece already has the gate hinges attached, those could be a good place to bolt through for attaching steel support plates without any extra bolt locations; also good for supporting the gate
