I’m only half vaccinated due to an allergic reaction to AstraZeneca so I can’t have the second vaccine. I’m travelling to Dublin on Sunday and don’t need a passport and my passport expired in 2010 anyway. I have to get a fit to travel covid test and all these online booking clinics say to give your passport number. I’m not flying I’m sailing. It’s been so stressful trying to get one organised I’m at my wits end for my situation I’m running out of options. I’m worried I’m going to lose my holiday.

  • You don’t need fit to fly - Have you have you tried the pre- departure trst providers on this list ?
  • I’ve just managed to book one with boots chemist and they took my driving licence as ID but then it says later on in the form filling that you need to bring a passport if you are travelling so I’m taking my travel documents, at least if they turn me away they don’t take the money. I’m told by travel to Ireland . Gov not to have one any sooner than 72 hours before departure. This is a nightmare and a tight timeframe.

Have you discussed this with your GP or vaccine centre staff? If your allergic reaction to AZ was so bad that you are now clinically unsuitable for a second AZ, the usual advice is to offer Pfizer for your second dose.

I appreciate you have more experience than me with this Silver, but surely it would be 2 doses of Pfizer in this case?

No, because you have already had your first dose. The second is a booster and does not have to be the same vaccine.
The purpose of any vaccine is the same, despite different techniques: they serve to produce antibodies to covid-19.
Many people have had 'mixed' vaccines without problems.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
