Android Hard Reset - No Access to Screen - Options?

Options
Hi

Hoping one of you excellent guru's out there might be able to help.  My child has dropped a glass bottle on to their Moto G9 Play.  The screen is badly damaged but worse, it is constantly detecting pressure on the screen and inputting numbers/characters or executing functions depending on if you can momentarily get a screen display.  We need to send it away for 'fixing' (although I think it is beyond repair) and I want to do a factory / hard reset before sending it off.  Unfortunately I have no way of doing this via the normal method (settings or using the power/up/down keys).

Is there another option that does not require selections to be made on the phone?

By "using the power/up/down keys" do you mean that this

doesn't work? Note that the phone has to be powered off before the reboot.

I can get so far using the power/volume keys, i.e. back to the point with the android robot and 'no command' but I cannot then do anything (volume up and power).  It just sits at android robot and eventually reboots

  • Use your Google account to do a remote erase on the phone as you would if it was lost / stolen for example.

I looked for that in the Google Device Manager but couldn't see that option.  Will Google some more.  Thanks.

It’s possibly just a diy job to replace the screen, depending how skilled/confident you are. Then, you would not need to do a hard reset.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Interesting, thanks.  Might have a google to see how and what cost might be involved.
