Repaint mouldy bathroom ceiling and walls

Hi,
i am planning to repaint my mouldy ceiling in bathroom caused by hot showers over the year (not by me).

i pretty much know what to do but wanted to ask if you would recommend to use a mould spray before painting or just diluted bleach? Also and good mould paint recommendations?

Thanks

  • Mould spray and then mould proof paint. You also need to sort your ventilation out

I use zinsser perma white mould resisting paint, presuming your ceiling is white, it should do the trick.

Someone recommended the Dulux trade mouldshield fungicidal paint to me but I could only find 5L tins (far more than I needed) and it was quite expensive.
  • Dettol mould and mildew spray and scrape the mould off as well as wiping.

Then an anti fungicidal paint over the area and look at getting your fan or ventilation to the bathroom sorted out.

Diluted bleach will kill the mould.  I'd use normal paint if you have ventilation and zinsser if not.

White vinegar to kill the mold then mold prevention paint. I've used Crown and Dulux, both have worked well with no mold returning.
